AI Document Studio Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how AI Document Studio, package name com.kemlow.aidocumentstudio, handles your information. AI Document Studio is an AI-powered PDF and document management app for reading, scanning, organising, editing, and chatting with documents. It is local-first: your documents are processed on your device, and features that use the cloud are optional and require your explicit consent.

On-device by default

Opening, reading, scanning, OCR, and PDF tools run on your device. Your files are not uploaded to Kemlow.

Cloud AI is opt-in

Chat with PDF defaults to on-device mode. Cloud AI or cloud OCR only runs after you explicitly turn it on for that action.

Ads & analytics

The free version shows ads via Google AdMob and uses Google Analytics for Firebase. The Pro upgrade removes all ads. We never sell your data or share your documents with advertisers.

Your Documents Stay On Your Device

You open documents using Android's built-in document picker (Storage Access Framework). AI Document Studio keeps a reference to the files you choose and stores metadata about them — such as title, file size, page count, your last read page, and favourite status — in app-private storage on your device (a local database).

  • The document files themselves stay where you keep them; the app reads them through the permission you grant when you pick them.
  • Scanned pages, tool outputs (merge, split, compress, rotate, extract), and exported PDFs are written to app-private storage on your device.
  • This document data is not uploaded to Kemlow and is not shared with third parties.

Camera & Scanning

The scanner uses your device camera (via Android CameraX) so you can capture pages and turn them into a PDF. Captured images are saved to the app's storage on your device and assembled into a PDF locally. AI Document Studio does not upload your camera images or scanned documents to Kemlow, and does not access your photo gallery.

OCR (Text Recognition)

OCR converts scanned pages into searchable text. By default, OCR runs on your device and the recognised text is stored locally for offline search. A higher-accuracy Cloud OCR option is available as a Pro, opt-in feature: it is clearly labelled and page images are sent for processing only after you explicitly consent to cloud processing and choose that engine. On-device OCR remains the default.

AI Features (Chat with PDF)

AI Document Studio can summarise documents, answer questions, extract key points, and translate text. AI has three privacy modes:

  • On-device (default) — AI processing stays on your device and document content is not sent off the device.
  • Cloud enhanced — for higher-quality results, relevant document text may be sent to a cloud AI service to answer your request. This runs only after you explicitly consent to cloud processing.
  • Private cloud — an enterprise option that routes AI processing through a designated private cloud, again only when enabled.

When a cloud mode is used, the text needed to fulfil your request is transmitted over an encrypted connection to the AI provider acting as our service provider, used only to generate your answer, and not used for advertising. On-device mode remains the default, and every other part of the app works without cloud AI.

Analytics

AI Document Studio uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used (for example which screens and features are opened) so we can fix problems and improve it. This may include app-interaction events, a Firebase-assigned installation/analytics identifier, and general device and coarse (approximate, IP-based) location information. Analytics data is processed by Google as our service provider; it is not used to identify you personally and is not sold.

Advertising (Free Version)

The free version of AI Document Studio shows ads through Google AdMob. Ads are placed to be non-intrusive — for example on browse screens and at natural stopping points — and are never shown over your open document, the scanner camera, or the privacy/settings screens. Some ads are shown only when you choose them (for example, an optional "watch a video" reward to earn extra AI usage or to unlock a premium tool such as one free document conversion per day).

To serve ads, Google AdMob may process a device advertising identifier (Advertising ID), coarse (approximate, IP-based) location, and app-interaction and device information, in line with Google's Advertising policies. Where required (for example in the EEA and UK), we present a consent request before ads that use personal data are shown, and you can choose non-personalised ads. You can also reset or limit your Advertising ID in your Android settings.

Upgrading to Pro removes all ads. AI Document Studio does not sell your personal information and does not share your document contents with advertisers.

Accounts, Sync & Cloud Backup

The current release works without an account. Sign-in, cloud backup, and cross-device sync are shown as foundations and are not yet active; no documents or account data are uploaded to Kemlow in this build. If and when cloud backup or accounts are enabled in a future release, this policy will be updated to describe what is stored and how to delete it, and such features will be optional.

In-App Purchases (Premium)

AI Document Studio offers an optional Pro upgrade that removes ads and unlocks features such as unlimited AI, cloud OCR, document conversion, and batch tools. Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) or a one-time lifetime purchase, sold through Google Play Billing. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play — the app never sees or stores your card or payment details. Google Play provides your purchase status so the app can unlock what you bought. Subscriptions renew until cancelled and can be managed or cancelled anytime in Google Play. Purchases are governed by Google Play's terms and privacy policy and by our Terms of Service.

Permissions

Permission Why AI Document Studio Uses It
Camera To capture document pages in the scanner. Images stay on your device and are assembled into a PDF locally.
Internet Used by Google AdMob (ads in the free version), Google Analytics for Firebase, and — only when you enable it — optional cloud AI / cloud OCR. Core reading, scanning, and PDF tools work offline.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) To show optional on-device notifications (for example, when a background task such as export completes). No data leaves the device, and you can turn notifications off.

Access to your documents is granted per file through Android's document picker — the app does not request broad storage access.

What We Do Not Collect

AI Document Studio does not collect your precise (GPS) location, contacts, calendar, photo gallery, audio recordings, health information, or web-browsing history. It does not require your name, email address, or phone number to use the app. Payments are processed by Google Play — we never see or store your card or bank details.

Sharing

We never sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers, social networks, or advertisers.

We share limited data with Google, acting as our service provider, so specific features can work: Google Analytics for Firebase (app-usage analytics), Google AdMob (ads in the free version), Google Play Billing (purchases), and — only when you turn it on — a cloud AI / cloud OCR provider (to process the specific request you made). These providers process data to deliver those features under their own privacy policies, including Google's Privacy Policy — never for us to profile or sell you. Your document files are not shared with advertisers or any third party in the on-device default configuration.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local app data (document metadata, scans, OCR text, tool outputs, and settings) remains on your device until you delete it. You can remove it by clearing the app's storage in Android settings or by uninstalling the app. Removing a document from the app removes the app's reference and stored metadata; it does not delete your original file.

Analytics data is handled by Google as described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can request deletion of any data associated with AI Document Studio by emailing teraflopspeedapps@gmail.com. You do not need to delete your Google Account to do this.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate for a document app. Local metadata uses app-private storage, sensitive local values use Android's encrypted preferences, and any optional cloud AI/OCR or analytics traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

AI Document Studio is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and respond.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when AI Document Studio adds features (such as cloud backup, accounts, cloud AI, or purchases) or changes data practices. The updated policy will show a new "Last updated" date.
